With Christmas just days away, revellers up and down the country got into the festive spirit on ‘Black Eye Friday’ after millions finished work before the holidays.

The Friday before Christmas Eve has earned the nickname ‘Black Eye Friday’ due to the number of fights that break out in bars, pubs and clubs, with A&E departments in full swing.

Partygoers hit the town in major cities across the UK to drink, eat and dance the night away.

Many will be waking up with sore heads and queasy stomachs this morning as the drinks seemed to be in full flow with city centres full of people getting merry and crawling across bars and clubs.

Revellers donned their finest Christmas outfits, while others took to fancy dress with people dressed as Santa, Christmas trees and even the Grinch.

While many were seen smiling as they stumbled their way home, some seemed worse for wear and needed a helping hand from friends to make it to the bus or taxi.
