Former Ghanaian midfielder Rabiu Alhassan Mohammed has identified the lack of confidence as the major factor behind the struggles of the Black Stars.

He acknowledged that the team is filled with skilful and talented footballers who are capable of doing extraordinary things to achieve a positive outcome.

However, the lack of belief and confidence is impeding the success of the team.

Speaking in an interview with Akoma FM, Rabiu urged the technical team, headed by Otto Addo, to work effectively to ensure the morale of the players is boosted ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

“This Black Stars players have lost trust in themselves. They possess the talent and skills required at this level, but they lack belief. I know they are capable of performing better. I hope their confidence returns soon, allowing them to secure victories. When the game starts, no matter how tough it gets, they should fight, run, and pass the ball.

“Their confidence will grow, enabling them to give their best for Ghana. Looking at the players we have now, they are talented. You can’t compare Comoros’ squad to Ghana’s. What the Black Stars need is self-belief and determination to fight for Ghana,” he said.

The Black Stars will face Chad on March 21, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium before facing Madagascar in an away fixture on March 24, 2025.

Ghana are second in Group I with nine points, tied with leaders Comoros, while Madagascar are third with seven points, followed by Mali with five points.
