The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Premier League side Karela United, Elloeny Amande has said that public opposition will not stop the Ghana Football Association from passing the proposed amendment to extend the tenure of GFA Presidency to three terms.

According to Elloeny Amande who criticized the proposed amendment to extend the tenure of GFA Presidency to three terms, 8 years should be enough for any President to lead the football governing body in Ghana.

He said that the administration will definitely get their way on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the 31st Congress because they have bullied and victimised clubs into submission.

In an interview on Joy News, Elloeny Amande said that majority of the clubs will support the proposed amendments because they don’t want to be seen as “enemies” of the administration.

“I don’t know why anybody will think they need 12 years before they can do something at the GFA because 8 years is enough. Even in this country, the President has only two terms. Why not apply the same principle to the GFA? It’s wrong. It’s a way to grab power, which must not be allowed.”

“They’ve bullied and victimised clubs into submission. I can tell you that the amendment will pass at Congress because majority of the people won’t be able to oppose it. They fear their clubs might be relegated or will not be seen as a friend of the administration,” he said.

The Ghana Football Association‘s 31st Ordinary Congress has been scheduled for August 12, 2025, at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
