Comedienne Jacinta is of the firm belief that the act of men making advances toward women is not entirely problematic.

According to her, it only becomes an issue when such advances turn abusive or manipulative.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, Jacinta explained that it is natural for men to approach women, and that act alone should not be seen as negative.

Many female comedians in Ghana lack confidence – Jacinta

She explained that it is up to the woman to state whether she is interested or not, and once she does, the man should accept it and move on.

“I don’t see anything wrong with a man making passes at a woman. It depends on you as a woman; nothing spoils if you want it or not. A man would always make advances at a woman, it’s you, you want or you don’t want? He would move to the next person. It doesn’t make him a bad man and it does not make you a better woman,” Jacinta said.

People assume comedians are always happy – Jacinta

According to her, the real problem arises only when a man refuses to respect boundaries or tries to take advantage of a woman’s vulnerability.

She mentioned that some men turn their advances into manipulation, especially when they are in a position of power over the woman.

“Sometimes when people try to make it look like…unless you are becoming abusive or toxic, that’s when there’s a problem. Unless in a situation where I’ve told you no and you’re still pushing it or you are trying to make me feel like if I don’t do this you won’t do that for me. If you are in a position to do something for me and you’re trying to use that against me, I feel that’s really unfair,” she added.
