Suhum Member of Parliament, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, also known as Protozoa, has stated that he has no issues with his constituents asking him for money to help with personal expenses.

The MP made this comment in response to a question about whether he has experienced constituents asking for financial assistance for events like funerals, weddings, parties, and naming ceremonies.

Speaking on Frontline with host Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Bekoe explained that since not everyone is equally wealthy, he is happy to help his constituents financially with these events.

Bekoe stated that he is not one to criticise such requests, as they are a natural part of communal activities and support systems for those in need.

He elaborated, “In this world, not all fingers are equal. There are some who can’t even afford to buy poison, so if God has given you financial strength, you shouldn’t be bothered by helping others.

“I strongly disagree with those who complain about this. There are people who are struggling but don’t have the courage to ask for help, so when things get tough, they approach their MP. If you can help them, that’s great; if you can’t, there’s nothing wrong with that either.

“So, I don’t understand why some MPs complain about these issues,” he continued. “I disagree with those who complain too much as if their constituents are killing them with demands. If you can’t handle the pressure, then get out of the kitchen.”
