Ghanaian actress Gloria Sarfo has voiced her frustration over the lack of unity among Ghanaian creatives following her ordeal at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAAs).

Speaking on UTV, Sarfo addressed accusations of clout-chasing stating that she was rather demanding respect for Ghanaian creatives who she believed were unfairly treated.

Sarfo expressed disappointment that only a few actors, including James Gardiner, Fela Makafui, and Victoria Lebene, spoke up about the incident.

She contrasted this with the Nigerian film industry’s response, noting that Nigerians would have made significant noise if faced with a similar situation.

“This is what I don’t get, they’re saying I’m chasing clout, for what? If this happens again. I will still talk about it. If something like this had happened to the Nigerians, they would have made noise about it.

“But because Ghanaians would allow this slide. They will keep on doing it. And if our actors don’t speak on this, next year they will do the same to them. Nobody apart from James Gardiner, Fela Makafui and Victoria Lebene spoke up,” she said.

Sarfo narrated how Nigerian actor Kunle Afolayan, director of “Anikulapo,” was asked what Nigerians are doing differently, he pointed out that many Ghanaians are not united. Sarfo agreed, stating that the lack of unity among Ghanaian creatives leads to ongoing disrespect.

“What he said affected Fela Makafui and me because creatives in Ghana are not united. That is why we keep getting disrespected.

She lamented the disunity in the industry, mentioning that even calls for meetings among creatives often go unanswered.

“There is so much disunity in our creative industry, it’s sad,” Sarfo remarked.

She urged her peers to come together to prevent future disrespect and ensure a stronger, more cohesive industry.
