Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says there’s progress on contract talks with several players at the club, including Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey.
The 31-year-old’s deal with the Gunners expires in June, but the club is yet to offer him a new contract, leaving the door open for the player to speak with other teams.
There are reports that Barcelona and his former club, Atletico Madrid, are both interested in signing the midfield stalwart.
However, ahead of the Premier League game against Ipswich Town, Arteta hinted that discussions between the player and the club are ongoing.
“Yes, there’s progress with all the players. I’ll leave that to Edu and the club to decide and to talk about,” said Arteta during the pre-match press conference.
Partey has been a key cog in the Arsenal team this season, delivering an inspiring performance in midweek as the Gunners stunned European champions Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The former Atletico Madrid star has played 46 games for Arsenal in the current campaign, scoring four goals and providing three assists.
