Popular Ghanaian gospel musician Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta has highlighted the structural challenges facing the gospel music industry, stating that the genre currently lacks proper representation and a formal seat at decision-making tables.

According to the ‘You Dey Feel The Vibe’ hitmaker, the industry has a little chance at securing some of the allocation made by government towards the creative arts in the 2026 Budget.

In an interview with GhanaWeb at the recently held Praise Achievement Awards, Ofori-Atta stated that gospel music lacks a structured industry framework, leaving artists without a collective voice to influence policy or access funding.

“There’s no structured industry for it. We don’t have a mouth, we don’t have a seat at the table. The people ahead of us are going to step in and try and get in something but, per what we know, nothing is going to come,” he said.

He described the absence of a recognised platform for gospel musicians as a major barrier to growth and called for intentional action to unify stakeholders around common goals.

Ofori-Atta praised the Praise Achievement Awards for taking “a bold step” toward building cohesion within the gospel community.

“I pray that they will find a way of galvanising all of us towards a certain goal,” he said.

However, he noted that, at present, gospel musicians are yet to see tangible industry support.

“As it stands right now, no… there’s nothing for the gospel,” he stated.

The 4th edition of the Praise Achievement Awards was held on December 14, 2025, at Perez Chapel in Accra. The sold-out event honoured outstanding gospel musicians and celebrated excellence within the industry.

The night featured uplifting performances from top gospel acts including Luigi Maclean, Carl Clottey, Empress Gifty and Steve O & the Broken Chains.

Major winners included MOG Beatz as Songwriter of the Year, Empress Gifty as Female Artiste of the Year, and Kofi Owusu Peprah as Male Artiste of the Year.

The biggest winner was Team Eternity, which took home five awards — including Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Most Engaged Song on Social Media, and Group of the Year.
