British-Ghanaian singer and songwriter Fuse ODG has expressed his dissatisfaction with widespread misconceptions about Africa, particularly from the Western world.

In an interview on LBC, which was shared on X on August 7, 2025, Fuse ODG described the global perception of Africa as “dangerous” and emphasized the need for a change in narrative.

He explained that Africa is the cradle of humanity and, for that reason, deserves the world’s interest and respect.

“The current world’s view of Africa is so dangerous and needs to be challenged, because as a human being, you should have an interest in the place that set the foundation the world thrives on.

I’ll always use my platform to speak for my people in rooms where our voices are missing,” he said.

Responding to questions during the interview, Fuse ODG said he does not blame those who show little interest in Africa, adding that they have been conditioned to see the continent through a distorted lens.

“It’s not their fault. They have no interest in Africa because their perception of Africa is shaped by how the world portrays it.

If they had experienced Africa the way I have, they would definitely take an interest in it,” he added.
