Ghanaian music group, La Même Gang, has revealed that the wildest rumour they’ve heard about themselves is that they are gay.

Speaking on the Stay by Plan podcast, which aired on July 11, 2025, the “Godzilla” hitmakers explained that some people used to question their sexuality because of how close they were and how they expressed their friendship.

The group recounted that back in the day, they did a photoshoot where they were shirtless and in a swimming pool, which further fuelled the rumours.

They said at the time, the idea of a group of male friends being that comfortable with each other wasn’t something many people were used to.

La Meme Gang said they used to say “I love you” to each other, and because this wasn’t common among male friends in Ghana at the time, people misunderstood them.

“The wildest rumour we heard about La Meme Gang is that we are gay. I think because we came with that whole brotherhood thing and people were not used to it, so they were saying we were gay. We did a photoshoot where we took off our tops. For us it was not a big deal to say I Love You to a brother, now everybody does it, but at that time it was kinda awkward,” La Meme stated.

When asked whether they were bothered by the rumours, the group said they were not affected because they knew the truth about themselves.

“No, we know what we were doing, if they called us gay, we know we weren’t gay. Rocko (RJZ) would come up with some crazy graphics, and we would say I Love you for that shit,” they added.
