As anticipation builds for his annual Rapperholic concert, Sarkodie has revealed the personal inspiration behind his latest hit single, “No Sir.”

Released in December 2024, the song, which advises young men to live within their means, has quickly become a Christmas anthem and has flooded the airways in the country.

In an interview with Joy News, Sarkodie shared that “No Sir” is based on his life experiences.

“This is a real-life story. I think it’s happened to me before, but it wasn’t this bad,” he recalled.

“A friend of mine who came from a good family and had a car (I come from a middle-class family) had his own space; he occupied the boy’s quarters of his house.

“So my girl, who we all knew I was dating, linked up with him. I took it on the chin and changed from that day. I’ve not been in that position in a very long time, and I am not in the other position.”

He continued, “This is a very relatable story. This December, people will go out with their girlfriends and might end up going back alone.”

Interestingly, Sarkodie revealed that he had held onto the song for two years, hesitant to release it amidst the election tensions.

However, the distributors decided to release it, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

As fans eagerly await his Rapperholic concert, “No Sir” serves as a reminder of Sarkodie‘s ability to turn personal experiences into powerful music that resonates with many.
