The attack on the Asantehene’s Convoy at Techiman has prompted the Techiman Traditional Council to meet with the media.

According to KWAKU TV GH reports, the council provided information about the Asantehene and Chiefs’ relationship. The council claimed to have snooped a social media video that challenged the residents of Techiman to try to stop the Asantehene from travelling through the township if there were any men present.

Once more, he claimed that when Otumfuo arrived at the Techiman roundabout, firearms were shot randomly, injuring some people who had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

He continued by saying that some residents of the Techiman township gathered at the side of the road to wave at the Asantehene after Otumfuo returned from the funeral. He claimed that as a result, gunshots were fired from one of Otumfuo’s vehicles.

The council claims that the residents of Techiman were so incensed by this move that they decided to take matters into their own hands and stone the Asantehene caravan. The council declared their displeasure with the events and demanded that peace be restored.
