Popular entertainment commentator MC Portfolio has called on fans and industry stakeholders to moderate their emotions in the unfolding dispute between Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur and his former label, Ground Up Chale.
Kwesi Arthur ignited widespread discussion across the music industry on January 21, 2026, when he publicly accused Ground Up Chale of demanding US$150,000 for use of his own images in an independent project and alleged ownership claims over his music and brand dating back to 2016.
The rapper also claimed that he received threats and manipulation from his former management which have affected his wellbeing and release efforts.
This led to fan outrage and criticism directed at the record label and its management.
However, in remarks shared on social media, MC Portfolio noted that fans tend to vilify investors and executives without considering the contractual and legal frameworks that govern the creative sector.

He referenced previous incidents where fan commentary reportedly influenced managerial decisions to show how public sentiment can escalate issues rather than solve them.
“The way we are quick to demonize investors without listening to their side of the story in this industry is very unfortunate!
“Instead of us as sympathizers to be considerate with our comments and plead with the investor to be merciful, we hurl insults at them and get them furious to overstretch issues!” Portfolio stated.
He urged sympathisers to engage constructively, plead for fairness and allow room for due process rather than resorting to online attacks that could provoke further issues.
“Who doesn’t love Kwesi Arthur? It’s that to say “he can never go wrong”? The slander on investors must stop, let’s plead with GLEN than drag him! We are not doing Kwesi any good! We are harming him more!” he said.
