The Rock made his return to WWE for their debut on Netflix, but many fans were left confused by his actions on the show.
Th 52-year-old was last seen at the start of October last year for a brief cameo at the end of the Bad Blood pay-per-view. His last true showing on a microphone came the night after WrestleMania last April – where he was the ultimate bad guy.
The Rock started the night by forgoing all of his Final Boss attitude and returning to the babyface he has always enjoyed being in front of the WWE crowd.
New eyeballs could be the reason, but The Great One essentially did the corporate speech that many expected Triple H to do at a greater length.
He did manage to land the first swear words of the ‘Netflix era’ to the joy of some, calling ‘bulls***’ on his own attempt to manipulate his catchphrase from ‘finally, The Rock has come back to [insert town]’ to ‘finally, WWE has come back to Netflix’ – which doesn’t make sense on a debut, but there we go!
He did give a shout out to Cody Rhodes and embraced his main rival from 2024, to the puzzlement of many WWE fans.

He also took time to acknowledge Roman Reigns insisting he was the original tribal chief and said he would be watching the battle for the coveted ula fala Samoan necklace closely. And boy was he right.
Many fans hoped The Brahma Bull would get involved in the clash between Reigns and Solo Sikoa and despite almost every other superstar doing so, The Rock did not – at least not until after the result was settled.
Rock slowly made his way down to the ring to meet his tag team partner from WrestleMania 40. He tool the ula fala from Heyman to after a tense staredown before and after, he placed them over Reigns’ neck.
They embraced and The Rock visibly told Reigns he loved him. Then he stood back while the Tribal Chief celebrated with fans and the camera firmly fixed on The Rock waiting for him to turn on Reigns.
It didn’t happen. His niceties earlier in the night for Rhodes suggests he’s not targeting him for WrestleMania either, so is The Rock missing WrestleMania?
He’s 53 in May – he can’t afford to say ‘we’ll do it next year’ much longer. One has to think the stare down with Reigns is leading to WrestleMania, but for those expecting the Final Boss on Monday night, they did not get him.
