Media personality and entertainment pundit, Nana Frimpong Zeiga, has expressed his views on how the Ghana Music Awards USA is gaining global publicity.

In a discussion on United Showbiz on February 22, 2025, Zeiga noted that the publicity around the event is making it more popular than the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs).

He explained that in the next 10 years, the GMA awards would become even more popular if organisers continued with their hard work.

“It’s not easy to organise awards outside your country and still get people embracing it anytime the event is held. This means you are doing something good and right. Over the past three years, the publicity around Ghana Music Awards USA has become more than the TGMA itself in this country.

“Last year, I didn’t hear any publicity about the TGMA, only for us to get there and notice the place was filled. If you look at the expensive cost of publicity, it means they are doing very well. In the next ten years, they wouldn’t worry themselves with publicity because people will take flights from Ghana only to go watch the awards and return,” he said.

Frimpong Zeiga further called for a strong and healthy awards competition in the country, which would break the monopoly the TGMAs enjoy.

“I would prefer we have another strong awards scheme like the Ghana Music Awards USA to compete with the TGMAs. The only people who can do that to create that competition are the organisers of the Ghana Music Awards USA. I would have wished there was an offshoot in this country because they don’t joke with everything they touch,” he added.
