Member of Parliament for Ashaiman, Ernest Norgbey, has refused to credit Black Stars head coach Otto Addo for Ghana’s victories over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers held in March 2025.
According to him, the team won both matches due to the players’ determination and hunger, not because of the coach’s tactical input.
The lawmaker emphasised that he is not a fan of the German-trained coach and believes Otto Addo is not the right person for the Black Stars job.
“I may not be a big fan of Otto Addo, not because he’s not a good coach, but because he’s not the right coach for the Black Stars of Ghana,” he told CitiSports.
“The wins against Chad and Madagascar were not due to any tactical discipline but rather the motivation and hunger of the players. It wasn’t because we have a tactically gifted coach,” he added.
Many Ghanaians had called for Otto Addo’s dismissal after he failed to lead the Black Stars to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, failing to win a single game in the qualifiers.
However, the manager appears to have turned things around with impressive results in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March 2025.
He guided the team to two wins, defeating Chad and Madagascar, scoring a total of eight goals and keeping clean sheets in both matches.
Ghana now tops its World Cup qualifying group with 15 points, with four games remaining in the campaign.
