The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has criticised the Minority in Parliament for calling for the removal of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In a post shared on his X page on Friday, January 23, 2026, he questioned the logic behind the Minority’s position.
US Visa Pause: Minority accuses Ablakwa of damaging Ghana-US relations
“Can you believe that the Minority in Parliament has held a press conference to call for the removal of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for taking a bold stand in defence of international law?” he wrote.
He also addressed the Minority’s argument linking Ghana’s principled stance to visa restrictions:
“The claim by the Minority that the principled and firm stand taken by Ghana on these issues is the reason why citizens from Ghana and 74 other countries cannot be issued non-immigrant visas for now. Well, not all the 75 countries affected by this decision of the Trump administration have condemned the US violation of international law. The Minority ought to get serious”, he added.
Why the Minority is calling for Okudzeto Ablakwa’s removal
The Minority in Parliament, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, called for Ablakwa’s immediate dismissal, accusing him of incompetence and alleged diplomatic failures, including concerns surrounding the suspension of immigrant visa processing.
