The atmosphere at Prophet Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah’s Believer’s Worship Centre recently was nothing short of electrifying.

The flag bearers of Ghana’s two biggest political parties, NPP’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and NDC’s John Dramani Mahama, received enthusiastic cheers from the congregation.

But while the applause was similar, the drama that unfolded during each visit was a whole different story.

The two presidential candidates have since sparked a flurry of online buzz after their visits as people cannot stop talking about how they were welcomed, the prayers they received, and the exclusive moments that played out during their visits.

Mahama’s birthday visit and all that transpired

On his birthday, the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, visited the church to give thanks for another year of life.

He was surrounded by his entourage, including big names like Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and Professor Joshua Alabi. However, his running mate was noticeably absent from the scene.

Mahama’s moment of generosity came with a GH¢50,000 donation to the church, a gesture that was warmly received by both the congregation.

Stephen Adom Kyei-Duah, then asked everyone to stretch out their hands and pray for the “birthday boy”.

Mahama, seated comfortably, soaked in the moment as prayers were said, before the prophet held his hands and declared, “Go for your testimony.”

But the drama didn’t stop there. Kyei-Duah turned to the crowd, sending a strong message that got everyone talking: “If two people go to a competition, one person always wins. The person who wins is the one God has chosen. As for me, I represent God. So, the one who wins will be my president. I saw something, but it’s too heavy for my mouth to say. I will meet them right away and have a little conversation with Papa (Mahama).”

Bawumia’s visit: A case of special prayers and bigger donation

Then came NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The cheers from the congregation for the NPP’s flagbearer were just as loud, but the vibe in the room felt a little different.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was accompanied by his running mate, Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), and several high-profile party figures including NPP’s Ashanti regional Chairman Wontumi and MP Adwoa Safo.

Bawumia’s team offered a much larger donation; GH¢100,000. That’s double what Mahama had contributed, and just when one thought it couldn’t get any more dramatic, NAPO threw in an additional GH¢50,000.

But it was the special prayer session that had everyone on edge. Unlike Mahama, Bawumia was called to the front of the congregation, where the intensity of the prayers reached another level.

It was clear this wasn’t just about political support; it felt almost like a spiritual campaign rally.

That wasn’t all, then came the big moment.

With dramatic flair, Adom Kyei-Duah wrapped a sacred ‘Tallit prayer shawl’ around himself and Bawumia.

For a brief moment, they stood there, with the congregation watching in suspense, wondering what exactly was happening.

Then Adom Kyei-Duah left the shawl resting on Bawumia’s head, an act widely believed to symbolise spiritual covering. The cheers heightened when Kyei-Duah then declared, “Go for your testimony! Go for it!”

But the drama didn’t end there. After the intense prayer session, Adom Kyei-Duah leaned in and said to Bawumia, “When we were praying, I heard a voice. After service, we will meet, and I’ll tell you what I heard.”
