Dancegod Lloyd is a Ghanaian professional dancer and choreographer
Ghanaian professional dancer and choreographer, Dancegod Lloyd, has laid out grievances concerning the lack of support in the industry.
According to him, the dance industry is a very lucrative sector that provides numerous job opportunities, yet many people still do not recognize it as a profession that generates income.
He added that Ghana is renowned for dances that are breaking boundaries and putting the country on the global stage; however, the industry does not receive the attention it deserves.

“Ghana is one of those countries that is known for dance, but we don’t get the support, I feel like not everyone sees it as a profession still. But I feel like we are putting in a lot of work and we are getting there but not as collective, individually,” he stated.
He added that they are often not taken seriously when they list dance as their profession.
“When you go somewhere and say you’re a dancer there’s no weight but individually when I go somewhere and say I am Dancegod Lloyd people are like oh ok I know of you; but what about the profession because it’s a serious business that has a lot of avenues for making money” he explained.
He further stated that it is time to educate the younger generation on the importance of dance and that it is not just about fame and popularity.
“This is the time to educate the young ones because they feel like it’s just the fame and the popularity, but it is bigger than that. Now a lot of dance artistes go everywhere to work with big brands, back in the day it was not like that; no one even cared about us,” he added.
