A well-known Muslim preacher has boldly predicted the result of Ghana’s upcoming election. Speaking live on camera, the Imam asserted that two years ago, he received a divine revelation about the contest between the flag bearers of the two major political parties: Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The imam gave an explanation for his decision to keep quiet up to this point: he was afraid of the public’s harsh response. Nevertheless, he felt obliged to express his belief that Bawumia will prevail at this crucial moment. He is the latest in a long line of Ghanaian religious leaders, including Prophet Nigel Gaisie and Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, to forecast the election. Some regard these prophesies as divine revelation, while others treat them skeptically, claiming that such claims frequently sway public opinion and spark debate.
