The President-elect, John Mahama, has accused the Akufo-Addo government of purposely preparing his [Mahama’s] upcoming administration to fail.

According to former President Mahama, the current government has burdened the country with large debts, which may initially hinder the quick implementation of his administration’s objectives upon taking office.

Addressing a crowd of NDC supporters, President-elect Mahama expressed confidence that his reign will be successful.

“I saw someone on social media state that if it hadn’t been for the current NPP government, they wouldn’t have realized that WAEC is paid to administer exams because it has never been an issue. We now know that the government owes WAEC, and WAEC has declared unequivocally that if the government fails to pay its obligation, the WASSCE results will not be disclosed. Despite the much-hyped Free SHS scheme, CHASS produced a statement indicating that the government has owed schools money since 2021. Speaking about electricity, the government owes $2 billion. This is why one NPP member stated that Mahama, as President, cannot care for Ghana, alleging there will be famine and dumsor.

He continued, “This is because the NPP government has prepared a trap for us. But we will not be trapped in that trap; we will emerge unhurt. The Almighty God, who brought us electoral victory, will guide us through the challenges ahead until we succeed. God will grant us the wisdom to lead this country and make it better for future generations. This is the time to pray even harder than we did during the campaign, asking God to give us the power and wisdom to put in place measures that will make Ghana a better place for everyone to live. All I’ll say is that it’s over; God has already done it.”
