Ghanaian Foodball Legend Abedi Pele and wife Maha Ayew Ghanaian Foodball Legend Abedi Pele and wife Maha Ayew

As February, the month of love, draws to a close, a legendary romance has taken center stage in the hearts of Ghanaians.

The enduring union of football icon Abedi “Pele” Ayew and his wife, Maha Ayew, is being celebrated as a “masterclass in loyalty” following a viral Facebook post by on February 26, 2026 by DFKOrg Magazine.

While the world knows Abedi Pele for his three African Footballer of the Year titles, this retelling shifts the spotlight to the woman who has been his “rock” since the very beginning.

The love-story began in the mid-1980s in the city of Niort, France.

At the time, a young Abedi Pele was a rising talent carving out his legacy on the pitch for Chamois Niortais.

In what is described as a “collision of two worlds,” his path crossed with Maha, then a dedicated student pursuing her education.

What started as a chance encounter blossomed into a deep, private romance.

Far from the prying eyes of the media, the couple officially tied the knot in 1987, a year that marked the beginning of an unbreakable bond.

The Ayews’ story is more than a tale of romance; it is the blueprint for a sporting empire.

The couple did not just build a home; they engineered a dynasty that has become synonymous with Ghanaian football excellence.

Through decades of career highs and the pressures of global stardom, Maha remained Abedi’s most steadfast cheerleader.

Together, they raised four children who have each made their mark.

Rahim, André (Dede), and Jordan Ayew; a trio of football greats who have all carried their father’s mantle onto the global stage for the Black Stars.

Imani Ayew, the daughter of the family, added her own unique grace and elegance to the Ayew public legacy.

Decades after those first strolls through the parks of France, the couple remains a fixture of elegance in Ghana’s social fabric.

From the “dream-filled days” of their youth to their current “radiant maturity,” the Ayews serve as a symbol of consistency in an ever-changing world.

The DFKOrg Magazine post describes their love as “pure,” and prove that true devotion only shines brighter with time.
