The Head of Communications and Public Events at Charterhouse Productions, Robert Klah, has clarified why Ghanaian music duo, DopeNation, was excluded from this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) nominations.
Speaking on Hitz FM on March 19, 2025, Klah shared that despite the massive success of their hit song, Zormizor, during the year under review, the duo failed to submit the track for consideration.
He also confirmed that the group was indeed reached out to, but they did not engage with the organisers.
“One would expect that on a platform like this, in the year under review, their place would certainly be established. Unfortunately, when there was no filing, and we tried to reach out for consent, we couldn’t get it,” he stated.
The explanation comes following comments by DopeNation explaining their absence from the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) nominees list.
Entertainment pundit, DJ Slim, questioned whether the duo failed to file for nominations or respond to the awards’ research team.
In a cryptic response, DopeNation stated that they have been dealing with deeper, undisclosed issues within the music industry, choosing to remain silent out of respect for certain individuals.
They referenced their 2021 concerns when the ‘Group of the Year’ category was removed and concluded with a warning that the industry risks losing its “true artistes.”
