A Texas journalist has sparked furious backlash after releasing a melodramatic report comparing Republicans to Nazis.
KPRC 2 investigative reporter Joel Eisenbaum featured in a news clip tearing pages from a text book as he discussed a decision by Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District to remove certain chapters from textbooks used in classrooms.
The report cuts to a video of Nazi Germany during a book burning event as Eisenbaum says: ‘Book banning in one form or another goes back a long time. And now it’s fashionable again, at least in some of our school districts.
‘Cy-Fair ISD is doing it a little differently, stripping out individual chapters in textbooks.’
In the Nazi Germany clip that aired, students at universities in Nazi clubs across Germany burned thousands of books from Jewish or left-wing writers, along with anything considered ‘un-German.’
Eisenbaum’s comments sparked fury among Republicans and MAGA supporters, prompting the television network to cut the segment from the online story.
Congressman Wesley Hunt described the comparison as ‘insane.’
He said: ‘PRC in Houston is attacking Republican school board members in CyFair, calling them Nazis – all because they dare to prioritize reading, math, and science over leftist indoctrination.

‘For the record: these texts were removed over a year ago, so why is this a ‘story’ now? Because there’s an election upcoming! It sounds like election interference to me.
‘This is how the left fights culture wars. It’s time we FIGHT BACK.’
The primarily Republican school board reportedly voted 6-1 last year to remove chapters from textbooks focusing on vaccines, climate change, and diversity.
Senator Team Bettencourt also weighed in, describing the news report as ‘outlandish propaganda.’
‘Having elected School ISD trustees taking out DEI references out of textbooks, etc… doesn’t mean licensed media can do this without question.’
State Rep. Steve Toth added: ‘Texas Parents, you’re all Nazi Book Burners if you teach your kids there are only 2 sexes and boys don’t belong in girls bathrooms.’
Democrat Sara McGee, who is running for the Texas House of Representatives, hit back, arguing: ‘They deleted entire chapters of science. Why do you feel the need to constantly lie?”
Members of the public were also outraged by the segment, describing it as ‘insane’ and adding: ‘The FCC needs to revoke their broadcast license.’

KPRC’s news director Ana Lastra released a statement in response to the backlash, revealing she has initiated an internal review to investigate the segment.
‘After the story aired, we received feedback expressing concerns about the use of historical footage,’ she said.
‘While the facts of the story remain undisputed, we acknowledge that some elements may be perceived as inflammatory and could detract from the core issues.
As journalists, our responsibility is to accurately represent facts and information, but I recognize the trust in our work can be undermined by such distractions.’
