Tensions are reportedly high at the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board (GMMB) bungalows on Kuku Hill in Osu, where a private developer has initiated moves to demolish the historic residence.

A post shared on X by Accra-based Citi FM indicated that an excavator brought to the site early Friday morning triggered a standoff with staff and their families, who have vowed to resist the demolition to protect their homes.

In a video that accompanied the post, an excavator was seen demolishing a building while two men, assumed to be police officers, looked on.

The post read: “Tensions are high at the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board bungalows at Osu’s Kuku Hill, where a private developer has brought in an excavator to begin demolition. Staff and their families, currently residing in the bungalows, are fiercely resisting the move, determined to defend their homes.”
