Alexander Zverev‘s partner Sophia Thomalla has revealed the world No 2’s strange bedroom habits before sleeping.
The couple have been together since 2021 and often travel around the world together for his tournaments.
The tens of thousands of air miles are enough for Thomalla to handle – but it’s Zverev’s odd superstitions where the German model draws the line.
‘Superstition is a sign of weakness. Because you cling to certain rituals just because you don’t have faith in yourself,’ she told RTL.
Thomalla detailed her boyfriend’s rigid nighttime routine and explained that she feels the urge to cry every night when they are together.
‘Every evening, before he goes to bed, he goes to the toilet three times, and then back to bed, back and forth like that,’ Thomalla added.

‘And then the chains are put in place. I get the urge to cry every night and think to myself: now just come to bed.’
Zverev, who was accused in 2023 of physically abusing a woman in 2020, agreed to a settlement over the case in June last year. He agreed to pay Brenda Patea, the mother of his child, $217,820 (£174,254), but was found not guilty of any wrongdoing (Patea publicly identified herself as the victim in the case).
In October 2023, the Berlin-Tiergarten court issued a penalty order and a fine of around $488,000 (£390,396) against Zverev, who has denied Patea’s claims of abuse. He called the order ‘complete bulls***’ a month later.
Patea told German newspaper Suddeutsche Zeitung that Zverev choked her during an argument. Zverev has also been accused of domestic abuse by Olga Sharypova, a fellow tennis player and another ex-girlfriend of his.
Sharypova made the allegations – also denied by Zverev – in 2020, accusing him of punching her in the face and smothering her with a pillow.
The ATP investigated the claims (via an outside firm) for 15 months but ultimately did not discipline Zverev on the basis of insufficient evidence.
Following his settlement in June 2024, Zverev said: ‘I told you so from the start, I told everybody. I’m happy that it’s over. Yeah, nothing else more to say.’
Aside from dating her tennis star boyfriend, Thomalla has reached fame herself as a renowned actress, model and television presenter in Germany.

She has acted in a huge array of German TV shows and movies, booking her first job at just 18 years old.
Coming from a star-studded family, Sophia’s parents Simone Thomalla and André Vetters are also actors.

The 35-year-old was once ranked number three on FHM’s sexiest women list and has even modeled for the German edition of Playboy.
She has a whopping 1.4million followers on Instagram, where she often posts pictures of herself and her lover.
Zvervev isn’t her first athlete boyfriend, as she has previously dated Newcastle goalkeeper Loris Karius.
Other famous faces she’s dated include singer Gavin Rossdale, and Norwegian musician Andy LaPlegua – whom she married in 2016 but divorced one year later.
