Teen identified as victim of Corindi Beach in NSW stabbing as family make heartbreaking plea
The teenage boy who died on Sunday when he was allegedly fatally stabbed in Corindi Beach on the NSW North Coast, has been identified as 16-year-old Trey Johnston Piggott.
The family have launched a GoFundMe, asking for any donations from the community to go towards the funeral expenses to assist them during their grief.
‘Trey was a beautiful, smart, intelligent, young boy whom had his whole life ahead of him and we now are left with only memories,’ his aunty Billee-jo wrote on the fundraiser page.
‘Trey was very well known through our community & loved dearly by so many.’
The family hopes to raise $15,000.

‘Through this hard time we are trying to stand together as a family to support one another but most of all our sister Rikki and Trey’s siblings through this traumatic time.’
A 17-year-old boy has been charged with Trey’s murder, assault causing death and possess prohibited drug.
The incident occurred on Pacific Street in Corindi Beach, which is situated about 26km north of Coffs Harbour.
Emergency services responded to the scene shortly before 6pm on Sunday. At that time, Trey had sustained stab wounds to his thigh.
Paramedics provided medical treatment at the scene before urgently transporting him to Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
Unfortunately, Trey passed away in the hospital not long after.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday afternoon, Acting Superintendent Matthew French said despite an extensive search, officers had not yet recovered the alleged weapon, which police believe is a knife.
He said the boy had suffered an injury in the upper thigh and there was a ‘significant amount of blood loss’.
The vacant block where the stabbing is understood to have taken place
An eye witness told The Daily Telegraph he heard a ‘loud bang’ before going outside to find a boy lying on the road out the front of his home of 12 years.
‘The bang was a car door and it was someone who must have pulled over to help,’ he said.
‘There were a lot of people trying to help and the little bloke was just lying there groaning.’
‘A lot of young ones cut across that block because it’s a short-cut to a couple of walking tracks and they can go that way to get to the houses on the other side,’ he said.
Daily Mail Australia understands both men were known to one another and attended nearby Woolgoolga High School.
‘It was two young blokes who both attended Woolgoolga’ a local who asked not to be named revealed.
‘The whole community has been rocked by this incident – it’s usually a quiet place to live.’
The Coffs Clarence Police Department commander said the incident would have a ‘ripple effect’ on the tight-knit community of Corindi Beach.
Woolgoolga High School was contacted for comment.
