Divine Kutortse, an Enterprise Development and Trade Finance Specialist at the National AFCTA Coordinating Office has asserted that technology has evolved from a luxury into an essential tool for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Ghana.

Addressing a gathering of entrepreneurs, business leaders, and policymakers, Kutortse highlighted how emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, digital payments, and e-commerce platforms, are key to Ghana’s future economic success.

“Technology isn’t just a luxury anymore; it is a necessity,” he asserted during a recent CBG Thought Leadership Conference in Accra.

According to Kutortse, adopting digital tools is crucial for Ghanaian SMEs to reach new markets, enhance efficiency, and succeed under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

He noted that the AfCFTA offers Ghana unprecedented opportunities, including access to a larger African market, potential job creation, and positioning the nation as a leader in African trade integration.

Kutortse underscored the significance of the AfCFTA Protocol on Digital Trade, which is designed to integrate technology into cross-border trade processes.

This framework, he explained, will allow SMEs to operate more efficiently and connect seamlessly with markets across Africa.

“It’s not enough to just have the technology. We need to ensure that Ghanaian SMEs have the skills to use these tools effectively.

“In every village, town, and city across Ghana, there are entrepreneurs often women who are brimming with ideas and ambition but lack access to markets or the tools to bring their ideas to life.

“Let’s harness the power of technology to unlock growth, build efficiency, and create a future where every Ghanaian business can thrive,” he added.
