Residents of Mahigani village in Kirinyaga County, Kenya, are shocked and saddened by the finding of Purity Makena’s lifeless body.
The 20-year-old woman had been missing since Boxing Day (December 26) and was discovered dead the following day along the Thiba River.
Her family and the local community are trying to figure out what occurred.
Fearing for his life after an angry mob threatened to attack him, Makena’s husband rushed to the Wang’uru Police Station and surrendered to the authorities.
The crowd had burned his house in their rage, assuming he was to blame for his wife’s death.
After being questioned by authorities, the husband allegedly admitted to killing his wife, but the reasons for the crime remain unknown.
Makena’s family suspects that the tragedy was triggered by a love triangle. Her uncle, John Muriuki, confirmed their concerns, stating that Makena was seen with her husband just before her disappearance.
The family believes that another person may have been involved, resulting in a violent encounter. They are screaming for justice and want the individual who killed Makena to be punished.
The news of her death has devastated her family, particularly her grandmother, Madarina Wambura, who can’t understand how her granddaughter’s life was cut short in such a horrible manner.
Wambura expressed her anguish, claiming that Makena lived with her husband in Mahigani village until going missing after Christmas.
The family was later notified that her remains had been discovered beside the river.
Makena’s death has prompted fury in the community, with many demanding an explanation.
The authorities are still investigating the event, attempting to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her unfortunate demise.
The family and villagers hope that the investigation will reveal the truth and deliver Purity Makena the justice she deserves.
