A tear-jerking video captured the emotional moment a stolen dog was reunited with her owners after eight years.

Pensioners, Rita and Philip Potter, from Norfolk, had been searching for Labrador, Daisy, since she was ‘cruelly’ snatched from their garden in 2017.

Despite so many years passing since the couple lost their beloved pet they never gave up hope that one day they would see her again.

And, last weekend, Rita’s prayers were answered when she received a ‘miracle’ phone call.

An RSPCA officer had found Daisy wandering around a travelers site 230 miles away in Weston-super-Mare and was able to identify her through her microchip.

‘At first we thought it was a scam, we just couldn’t, believe it, our grandchildren were so excited,’ she said.

Philip added: ‘We thought she had been bred to death we didn’t really expect her to come back. We think it’s a miracle actually.’

Daisy was driven back to Norfolk by members of the RSPCA team before she was welcomed home by Rita, Philip and their family.

In a heart warming video Daisy, who is now 13, wags her tail as she is reunited with her owners before running around the garden and taking a nap in her old bed.

Rita said: ‘She laid on the lawn and rubbed herself on the grass, she was very, very excited.

‘You can tell she is absolutely delighted to be here. We are thrilled to have her back.’

The couple are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary this year and Philip said his dog coming home is the most ‘wonderful present’.

Rita commended the work of the RSPCA saying: ‘They have been and they’re still getting in touch to see how she is.

‘They brought her all the way back from Weston-super-Mare free of charge. I just cannot praise them enough.’

When Daisy went missing hundreds of volunteers scoured the area for any sign of her and many still remember her story.

A Facebook post announcing that Daisy had been found received more than 400 comments.

One person wrote: ‘That is the most amazing news. I have never forgotten Daisy each time she came up on my memories I so wanted to contact you to say she hadn’t been forgotten.’

Another added: ‘That’s so fantastic! I never, ever stopped looking for you, every dog I looked at, and never stopped praying she’d be found.’

‘I have followed this page for so long hoping that one day Daisy would come home. How wonderful this has finally happened!’, said a third.

Rita said her message to other owners with missing pets is to ‘never, never give up hope.’
