The Managing Director of TDC Ghana Ltd., Mr. Courage K.M. Nunekpeku, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, has made goodwill donations to three traditional councils ahead of the Easter festivities.

The gesture, which was in recognition of the longstanding ties between TDC and the traditional authorities whose lands form the Tema Acquisition Area, saw the Nungua, Kpone, and Tema Traditional Councils each receive 100 packs of bottled water, 10 bags of rice, boxes of spaghetti, a bull and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Accompanied by Presidential Staffer Mr. Anthony Nukpenu, the MD’s first stop was at the Nungua Traditional Council, where the team was warmly received by the President of the Council, HRM Obaode Nortse King Prof. Odaifio Welentsi III, alongside the Katamanso Mantse, Tatse Nii Laryea Akuetteh, and the East Legon Mantse, Nii Afotey Srawa.

HRM Odaifio Welentsi III expressed profound gratitude for the visit, noting that it marked the first-ever courtesy call by a TDC Managing Director in his three-decade reign. He expressed optimism that this would signal the beginning of a deeper, sustained relationship between TDC Ghana Ltd. and the Nungua Traditional Council.

The Kpone Traditional Council was next to receive the TDC delegation. Chaired by Nii Tetteh Otu II, the Council welcomed the new MD and used the occasion to formally introduce him to the traditional authority. The Council expressed appreciation to President Mahama for the gesture conveyed through Mr. Nunekpeku, while also highlighting key concerns for consideration by the company. Traditional prayers were offered for the MD, asking for divine protection and success in his tenure.

The team then proceeded to the Tema Traditional Council, where its Acting President, Nii Adjetey Agbo II and his stool elders received them. The Regent conveyed the Council’s appreciation and emphasized the importance of maintaining the long-standing cordial relations between the Council and TDC Ghana Ltd. for their mutual benefit.

All three traditional councils lauded the initiative, describing it as a promising start to the tenure of the new Managing Director. They expressed hope that such engagements would become a regular feature, fostering closer collaboration and mutual understanding between the company and the traditional authorities.
