The Chief Executive Officer of the Tree Crops Development Authority (TCDA), Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, along with the Authority’s leadership, welcomed esteemed members of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs to the TCDA Office in Accra today. The visit aimed to familiarize the Committee with TCDA’s operations, strategic vision, and mandate while addressing key challenges and exploring potential areas of collaboration.

Throughout the day, Dr. Okrah presented a series of detailed reports and engaged in interactive discussions, highlighting the various strategies TCDA has implemented to enhance operational efficiency and deliver significant national impact via the development of six selected tree crops. These crops include cashew, mango, oil palm, rubber, shea, and coconut, which hold immense potential for economic growth and poverty reduction in Ghana.

Members of the Parliamentary Select Committee expressed their full support for the Authority’s mission and pledged to contribute to capacity-building workshops and other collaborative efforts. These initiatives aim to strengthen TCDA and empower all value chain actors across the tree crops sector.

The Committee acknowledged the significant role TCDA plays in promoting sustainable tree crop development, addressing food security, and generating employment opportunities. They also recognized the Authority’s potential to contribute to Ghana’s foreign exchange earnings and overall economic growth.

Dr. Okrah expressed his gratitude for the Committee’s support, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in achieving TCDA’s strategic goals. “We are confident that, with the support of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Food, Agriculture and Cocoa Affairs, we can effectively address the challenges facing the tree crops sector and unlock its vast potential for the benefit of all Ghanaians,” he said.

The visit concluded with a mutual agreement to maintain open communication channels and continue working together to ensure the sustainable development and growth of Ghana’s tree crops sector.
