A group of women within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tarkwa-Nsuem Constituency have issued a strong warning to presidential aspirant Kennedy Agyapong, urging him never to return to the constituency following what they describe as offensive and disrespectful comments made during his recent campaign tour.

The women, who were captured in videos chanting war songs and expressing outrage, accused the Assin Central MP of exhibiting “arrogance” and “utter disrespect” toward the people of Tarkwa-Nsuem. Some even questioned whether the presidential hopeful was “mentally sound” enough to lead the country.

According to them, Agyapong’s remarks—particularly his claim that “there is no man in Tarkwa-Nsuem as brave” as himself—were not only insulting but also dangerously divisive.

“This evening we are very angry—angry because Kennedy Agyapong has infuriated us,” one of the women said. “He wants to tell us that when he speaks, nobody else can speak. Let me tell you something: Tarkwa-Nsuem ladies are mothers. Our children matter to us, so we do not want someone who brings disunity. Anytime he opens his mouth, there is chaos.”

The women explained that their men were currently focused on identifying a capable presidential candidate to lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections, and therefore would not waste time responding to Agyapong’s provocations. They stressed that they had taken it upon themselves to respond directly to him.

Another woman challenged Agyapong to point to any meaningful development he had brought to his own constituency despite serving as MP for 24 years. She contrasted this with the contributions of George Mireku Duker, who, within just eight years as MP for Tarkwa-Nsuem, instituted a teachers’ award scheme and donated three cars to outstanding teachers.

    Background

Kennedy Agyapong recently toured parts of the Western Region, including Tarkwa-Nsuem, as part of his campaign ahead of the NPP presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.

In videos circulating and monitored by GhanaWeb, he is seen harshly criticising former MP and Deputy Minister George Mireku Duker, accusing him of rising from poverty to wealth without showing respect.

He also questioned why Hon. Mireku Duker was made MCE for Mankessim.

Agyapong is seen in the video urging the constituency members to blame the constituency executives and George Mireku Duker for losing the Tarkwah / Nsuem seat

However, his claim that “there’s no man in Tarkwa-Nsuem as strong as” himself appears to have been the final trigger that provoked the fierce backlash from the women.
