Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey has been named in the BBC English Premier League Team of the Week after a stellar performance against Leicester City.
The Brighton and Hove Albion right-back scored a belter to open the scoring in the thrilling 2-2 draw at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
Apart from contributing offensively for Fabian Huzeler’s men, Lamptey was also solid defensively, earning a place in Troy Deeney’s team.
“Scored a cracker at Leicester, and he is a really strange player. You can see the potential and ability, but you are always hoping that he stays fit,” said Deeney, as he explained his reason for picking Lamptey.
Others in the Team of the Week are Aston Villa’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and teammate Enzo Konza. Crystal Palace duo Maxence Lacroix and Will Hughes, Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer of Chelsea, and Antonee Robinson of Fulham also make the squad.
The team is completed by a front trio of Jarrod Bowen (West Ham), Jamie Vardy (Leicester), and Bryan Mbuemo (Brentford).
