Tariq Lamptey has ended his six-year stay at Brighton & Hove Albion, completing a permanent move to Serie A side Fiorentina.
The 24-year-old right-back, who joined the Seagulls from Chelsea in 2020, has signed a four-year contract with La Viola in a deal reportedly worth £6 million. He will wear the number 48 jersey at his new club.
Lamptey took to Instagram to pen a heartfelt farewell message to the Brighton family, expressing gratitude to the club, teammates, staff, and fans.
“Where do I start, what a journey it’s been, Brighton. I hoped it could have ended with me being able to say goodbye in person, but hopefully I’ll be able to do so soon. Thank you to the club for giving me the opportunity to showcase my talent. The memories, achievements, and support from you fans have been amazing!” Lamptey wrote.

“I came here to develop and grow on and off the pitch. Not only have I done that, but I also leave with warm memories, sharing the dressing room with great teammates, the ‘star man’ chant, my team crew club Hawks, all the staff behind the scenes, and the city as a whole. Thank you so much!” he added.
Despite being plagued by injuries, Lamptey made over 100 Premier League appearances for Brighton, contributing three goals and nine assists. His pace and energy made him a fan favourite, even as fitness setbacks hampered his consistency.
Now heading to Florence, Lamptey will look to revive his career in Serie A while adding European football experience to his résumé.
The Ghanaian defender remains in the plans of the national team and has been named in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali on September 4 and 8, 2025.
