Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has blamed his side’s slow start for their 2-1 defeat to Dreams FC, a result that saw them relinquish top spot in the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking after the Matchday 26 encounter at the Tuba Astroturf, Tanko admitted his team struggled to find their rhythm early on, allowing Dreams FC to take control of proceedings.

“We started very slowly, and Dreams FC were the better side in the opening 20 minutes,” he said.

The Tarkwa-based outfit improved after the break, showing greater urgency and attacking intent. Medeama pulled a goal back in the second half following a well-worked move, but their late push fell short as the visitors held on for victory.

“In the second half, we dominated play and scored a beautiful goal, but unfortunately, time was not on our side,” Tanko added.

The defeat allowed Bibiani Gold Stars to climb to the top of the league standings, intensifying the title race.

With eight matches remaining, Tanko urged his players to stay focused and respond strongly in their upcoming fixtures as Medeama aim to regain momentum.
