    Take advantage of Ghana’s transition to green economy

    Transport Minister, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah has entreated transport, and logisticS operators to exploit Ghana’s transition to green transport.

    He implored the operators in a keynote address at the 2024 CILT Ghana Logistics and Transport conference at the Wesley Towers in Accra.

    Asiamah, in the address read on his behalf by Ivy Masimah, director of policy, planning, Monitoring and evaluation at the Ministry of transport, he stated that the government is committed to the transition, however, noting that achieving the course require participation from all stakeholders.

    “The transition to a green and circular economy requires the participation of all stakeholders, government, private sector, civil society, and the general public. Government is committed to leading the way by creating an enabling environment, but the active engagement of logistics operators, vehicle manufacturers, service providers, and the general public is crucial for success.”

    He, in that vein, tasked CILT to frontline the agenda and train individuals and organizations to sharpen their skills in the green job.

    The minister assured that the minister will continue to work hand-in-hand with CILT in reaching the target.

    “I, therefore, want to take this opportunity to urge the CILT to take up this challenge and support individuals and organizations to grow and develop skills in green jobs. I want to assure you that the Ministry will continue to collaborate with CILT towards the realization of this noble goal.”

    Speaking in his welcome address, CILT president, Engr. Mark Amoahma revealed that the theme is “Logistics and Transport Operations in the Green and Circular Economy” was inspired from embracing their ‘responsibility and commitment in shaping a sustainable future.’

    “This is indeed a timely and crucial theme. CILT Ghana recognize not only the crucial role of our industry in driving economic growth but also our profound responsibility and commitment in shaping a sustainable future.”

    Amoahma asserted that the conference is fixated finding solutions faced the industry to improve and developi the Green and Circular Economy.

    “The vision of this Conference is solution-focused. Our conversations and discussions are to consider what green and circular opportunity means for Ghana, new frameworks and strategies for enhancing Green and Circular Economy, opportunities and job creation. We must be deliberate and intentional in driving this transition.”
