VISITING Swedru All Blacks ended their four-game winless run by beating Dreams FC 3-2 in their Ghana Premier League (GPL) Matchday 11 game played at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon yesterday.
Goals from Rudolf Mensah, Abdul Aziz, and Benjamin Adjei were enough to dwarf Suraj Seidu and Yaovi Chris Guede’s efforts for Dreams FC.
The encounter burst into life right from the blast of referee David Addaney’s whistle as the victors tested Gidios Aseako in post from Dreams FC with a strike that was parried over the bar.
Dreams lifted their game right after that effort but, against the run of play, Rudolf Mensah opened the scoring with a left-footed drive on 22 minutes.
Five minutes later, defender Oscar Mensah was adjudged to have brought down Mohammed Shaban in the box for a penalty which was converted by Suraj Seidu.
Dreams pushed for more goals and got rewarded on the 37th minute when Yaovi Chris Guede beat goalkeeper Clement Aryee with a low grounder.
But two minutes into time added on, Abdul Aziz hit a powerful drive from behind the box for the equaliser.
Back from the recess, the visitors kept the momentum with midfielder Benjamin Adjei reacting quickest to a ball into the box to put his side in the lead.
All Blacks nearly increased the tally on 58 minutes, but Mensah’s strike drew a great save from Aseako, while his opposite number Aryee kept his side in the lead with a goal-line save from a header by Jonathan Nemorden four minutes later.
In time added on, goalkeeper Aryee saved a left-footed strike from Nemorden, drawing applause from the stands.
Dreams piled pressure on the visitors, but they held on for a famous away victory.
