Swedru All Blacks claimed a crucial 1-0 win over FC Samartex 1996 in their Ghana Premier League (GPL) Matchday 22 encounter at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Saturday.
The match’s only goal came in the 75th minute when defender Zayat Bubakari confidently converted a penalty, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to give the hosts all three points. The left-back’s composed finish followed a foul inside the box that earned Swedru All Blacks the spot-kick.
The victory marked a much-needed boost for All Blacks, who had gone five matches without a win across all competitions. Under new coach Kasim Mingle Ocansey, the team showed renewed determination, solid defensive organisation, and mental resilience.
Samartex dominated parts of the game in possession but struggled to penetrate a disciplined All Blacks backline. In the final minutes, the Timber Giants pressed hard for an equaliser, but the Swedru side held firm to protect their narrow lead.
The win relieves some of the pressure on Swedru All Blacks, who had been hovering near the relegation zone, while Samartex missed an opportunity to move higher up the GPL standings.
