Ghanaian teenager Ziyad Salifu has officially joined Swedish Allsvenskan side Degerfors IF on a three-year contract.

The club confirmed the signing of the 18-year-old on Thursday, February 13, 2025.

Salifu, who was born on June 20, 2006, is a winger with Ghanaian citizenship. Before joining Degerfors, Salifu played for Diamond Seed Sporting Club based in Accra, Ghana.

Prior to the confirmation of his signing, Salifu was on trial with Norrkoping, another Allsvenskan side. Degerfors secured Salifu with a contract that extends to the end of 2028.

Salifu expressed his satisfaction with the move, stating, “It feels very good to be here.”

“I’m quite fast and have good technique. My playing style is more or less like Mbappe, he tells Degerfors’ official website.

“I’m the new Mbappe in this club.”

Sean Sabetkar, the assistant athletic director for Degerfors, shared his enthusiasm about Salifu joining the team:

“We are very happy to welcome such an exciting player to the club. Ziyad has been on our radar since last fall, and we are proud that he sees our club as an important step in his continued career and development.

“As a player, he stands out through his speed and his strengths in the offensive, and we look forward to following his journey with us.”

Salifu has already completed his medical examination and contract signing at Stora Valla and is set to begin training with the team.
