The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) have announced that the 2025 edition of the Sports Journalist Award ceremony will be held on Sunday, August 3, at the Central Hotel, North Ridge.

The award recognises sports journalists in the country who have distinguished themselves in various aspects.

Among the nominees are some of the most talented and dedicated sports journalists in Ghana, each having demonstrated exceptional skills and dedication to their craft.

The nominees have covered various sports, including football, athletics, badminton, boxing, arm wrestling, and para sports, and have showcased their expertise through their reporting.

The winner of the award will be determined by a panel of judges who have assessed the nominees’ works based on writing quality, storytelling ability, and impact on the sports industry.

Some of the journalists in contention for the accolade are Asbella Nana Akua Amakwah, Fiifi Anaman, Bill Eshun, Nii Bruce Tagoe, and Yaw Ofosu Larbie.

The award is considered one of the most prestigious in the sports journalism industry, and winning it would be a career-defining moment for any journalist.

Instituted in 2022, journalists Saddick Adams, Juliet Bawuah, Gary Al-Smith, and Bright Kamkam Boadu have all won this prestigious award.
