The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) has congratulated Ghana’s President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, on his victory in the December 7 general elections.

Mahama triumphed over the New Patriotic Party’s Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and in a statement released by SWAG, the association described Mahama’s victory as an opportunity for a new era of leadership in Ghana.

The statement, signed by president of the association, Kwabena Yeboah, also highlighted SWAG’s readiness to collaborate with the President-elect to advance the nation’s sports development agenda.

“President-Elect H.E. John Dramani Mahama demonstrated his commitment to the development and promotion of sports in our dear country by engaging major sports stakeholders, particularly the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), during the pre-election period,” the statement said.

SWAG also commended the peaceful nature of the elections and applauded Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for his gracious concession, while wishing the President-elect well as he prepares to assume office.
