Suzzy Adwoa Pinamang, a second-year student of Adventist Senior High School, has successfully undergone eye surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, thanks to the generosity of philanthropist and businessman Ibrahim Mahama. The surgery, performed on June 2, 2025, has given Suzzy a new lease on life after she lost sight in one eye due to a traumatic shooting incident earlier this year.

After the incident, Suzzy was flown to the UK on May 10, 2025, for urgent medical treatment, following a recommendation from doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi. The successful surgery has enabled her to regain her independence, and she is now able to see on her own and move about without assistance.

Suzzy’s family and team managing her care have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the medical teams in both Ghana and the UK, particularly the staff at Moorfields Eye Hospital, for their exceptional care. They also thanked the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Ghana High Commission in London, and outgoing UK High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson, for their support.

Ibrahim Mahama’s timely intervention has been widely appreciated, with many praising his generosity and commitment to giving back to society. Suzzy’s successful surgery is a testament to the impact of collaborative efforts and goodwill.

While Suzzy has expressed fears about returning to school, her successful surgery and recovery have given her a new perspective on life. With continued support and care, Suzzy is expected to make a full recovery and resume her studies.
