A Former pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David Parish has opened his church after being suspended.
The clergyman who identifies as Iluyomade Idowu has started his own Church on Victoria Island which he called ‘Family Fellowship’.
Iluyomade who had been suspended by the RCCG board for throwing a birthday party for his wife, tendered his resignation immediately after he was suspended.
It can be recalled that Iluyomade had thrown his wife an elaborate birthday party, after losing a church member, the CEO of Access Bank plc, Herbert Wigwe.
Herbert Wigwe had lost his life in a helicopter crash in California alongside his wife, son, and 3 other people while they were en route to the Superbowl.
Many internet users and public figures criticized the event after videos and pictures from the party surfaced on social media with the majority tagging it as insensitive.
Iluyomade launched the church on the 19th of January and the first service which took place on the same day marked the beginning of the ministry.
Below are some of the reactions from internet users;
@olayeenkadairo: You will be surprised how the church will fill up so quickly. A lot worship their pastors and not serve God. He will not be the first neither will he be the last.
@miriam.jacob: Just know God by yourself,on your own and you will be fine.
@daddyfreeze: Church na confirm business
@adeyebaomoba: Sounds more like; ‘he launched his own record label’
