The power to determine who becomes the Presidential candidate of a party is lies in the hands of the delegates. Kofi Ofosu Nkansah made it known to some members of the NPP that, they have no power to tell who to lead NPP in 2028 aside from the delegates.

Honorable Kennedy Ohene Agyapong lost the 2024 NPP Presidential primaries to His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Unfortunately, His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia lost the main presidential elections to the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress NDC. Following the margin that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama used to win the elections over Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, some members of the NPP made a press conference a few hours ago to declare that Bawumia has cannot lead the NPP in 2028 again.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, February 8, 2025, Nkansah criticized the recent press conference held by some NPP members aimed at discrediting Dr. Bawumia’s chances of leading the party again. He stressed that internal democracy should be respected, and no group should attempt to impose or eliminate candidates through public statements.

“Those who went to hold that nonfa press conference implying Dr. Bawumia got 41% in the 2024 elections so he should step aside should be reminded Kufuor got 39% in 1996 but got 57% in the 2000 runoff,” Nkansah wrote. “Let’s all respect ourselves and allow party delegates (whoever votes) to decide who they want as our flag bearer. We will all support whoever is selected as flag bearer.”

Below is the post from Kofi Ofosu Nkansah.
