There was a clash between a man purported to be the father of Odo Broni, the partner of the late Daddy Lumba, and supporters of Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, at the Kumasi High Court on November 18, 2025.

According to reports, as the man identified as Odo Broni’s father passed by a group of Akosua Serwaa’s supporters, he heard comments about his daughter that reportedly infuriated him.

He then confronted one of the women who allegedly made the statement. One of the supporters claimed that the confrontation occurred after she insisted that Odo Broni was not married to Lumba before the musician’s demise.

Following Daddy Lumba’s passing on July 26, 2025, there has been dispute over who should be recognised as the spouse of the singer.

The disagreement escalated to court after Akosua Serwaa filed a suit claiming that she had been excluded from funeral preparations for her late husband.

In her statement of claims, Serwaa accused the family head, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, of sidelining her to the extent that she only learned of the funeral date through social media.

Lumba’s family responded through a letter signed by Fati Ali-Yallah of Baba Jamal & Associates, insisting that Akosua Serwaa had no authority to dictate funeral arrangements.

The family claimed that Serwaa had returned her head drink in 2018, which, according to tradition, dissolved her marriage with Lumba. Based on this, they declared Odo Broni as the only legitimate widow entitled to perform the widowhood rites.
