The Children’s Support Fund, created to secure the future of the eight children who lost their parents in the August 6 helicopter crash, has received a total of GH¢6,583,600 and US$20,000 in donations as of September 11, 2025.

The update was announced in a statement issued on Saturday, September 13, by Dr Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund.

According to the statement, contributions made between September 1 and 11 came from eleven donors, including NIB Ghana, Keda Ghana Ceramics Ltd, MTN Ghana, Ghana Commercial Bank, Chase Group Foundation, KGL Technology, Dela Radio, and several individuals such as Cynthia Naa Odotey, Nana Victoria Akyaa Afriyie-Abrokwa, Kay Simmon, and Charles Incoom.

The Fund was first announced by President John Dramani Mahama during the state funeral on August 15 as a long-term initiative to provide education, healthcare, housing, clothing, insurance, and other essentials for the children left behind.

Stanbic Bank Ghana seeded the Fund with GH¢500,000 and opened dedicated cedi and dollar accounts at its Stanbic Heights branch in Accra to facilitate donations.

Mobile money payment options were also activated to encourage public participation.

Dr Sawyerr expressed deep gratitude to all contributors and urged individuals, corporate organisations, and professional bodies to continue supporting the initiative.

She stressed that sustained inflows are critical to guaranteeing the education and welfare of the children in the years ahead.

The government has also pledged additional support and will soon publish a full framework for managing the Fund to ensure transparency and accountability.

Donations to the Children’s Support Fund can be made via Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited (Stanbic Heights branch, Accra):

    GHS Account: 9040013628372

    USD Account: 9040013628534

Cheques and bank drafts should be addressed to CHILDREN SUPPORT FUND 6825, while mobile money (MoMo) payments remain available through designated platforms.
