SuperSport are reportedly in talks to broadcast the Ghana Premier League SuperSport are reportedly in talks to broadcast the Ghana Premier League

South African pay-TV giant SuperSport is likely to reach an agreement with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to become the broadcast partner of the Ghana Premier League (GPL).

According to ghanasoccernet.com, persons involved in the deal have hinted that SuperSport is leading and likely to get the nod from the GFA to become the broadcast partner of the GPL for the 2025/2026 season.

The media organisation’s success in broadcasting leagues on the continent, specifically in Nigeria, Zambia, and South Africa, gives them an edge over their competitors.

This update comes after talks between the GFA and StarTimes for renewal of their contract collapsed over an outstanding debt of over $842,000.

The report seems to affirm a claim made by Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, saying that Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, was working on securing SuperSport to broadcast the local league.

However, it remains to be seen if the deal will come into fruition, as the GFA are yet to officially announce the broadcast partner.

Following the expiration of the previous deal, the Ghana Premier League currently has no official broadcast sponsor. In the meantime, some local television stations have stepped in to air the matches.

Officials from Premier League clubs have expressed frustration over their financial challenges in managing their teams.
