The Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, Millicent Amankwah, has assured the public that the culprits in the murder of Asante Kotoko fan Yaw Francis, popularly known as Nana Pooley, will be arrested.

The MP sympathized with Kotoko while expressing her deep sorrow upon learning of the fan’s tragic passing.

“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Yaw Francis, also known as Pooley, a devoted Asante Kotoko supporter, during the match between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko in Nsoatre, within my constituency, on Sunday, February 2, 2025. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and the entire football community,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

She reiterated her commitment to seeking justice for the deceased, assuring that, along with the Bono Regional Minister and security forces, the perpetrators would be held accountable.

“As the Member of Parliament for Sunyani West, I strongly condemn the violence that led to this unfortunate incident. I will work closely with the Bono Regional Minister and security forces to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” she stated.

Nana Pooley tragically passed on in one of the scuffles that occurred after Asante Kotoko’s defeat against Nsoatreman FC on matchday 19 of the Ghana Premier League.

Pooley was reportedly stabbed five times and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
