A student of Obrachire Senior High Technical School who was assaulted during a district inter-schools athletics competition has shared what happened, insisting he did nothing to provoke the attack.
The incident, which occurred during an inter-school competition in Agona Swedru on February 19, 2026, involved students from Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS).
Speaking to TV3 Ghana, the victim recounted how the attack happened unexpectedly while he was trying to attend to a health issue.

“They threw stones at me when I was looking for a place to sit so that I could use some medicine on my eye. It happened unexpectedly,” he said.
According to him, he was not paying attention to any tension building around him at the time. It was only when he noticed his colleagues running that he sensed something was wrong.
“I wasn’t looking. When I turned, I saw my colleagues running, but I didn’t know what was happening. By the time I realized, a stone came to hit me,” he shared.
He maintained that he had no confrontation with anyone prior to the incident and stated the attack was completely unprovoked.
When asked what action should be taken against those responsible, he called for firm measures.
“I want them to be arrested, and anything that the government wants to do to them should be done,” he added.
Following the incident, the Ghana Education Service (GES) confirmed that three students have been arrested in connection with the assault.
The Central Regional Director of Education, Dr Juliette Dufie Otami, confirmed the arrests in an interview with JoyNews on February 23, 2026.
The clash reportedly erupted after tensions between students of Obrachire Senior High Technical School and SWESBUS escalated into a physical confrontation.
The violence disrupted the athletics competition and has since sparked public concern over student discipline and security arrangements at inter-school events.
